• Hampson ID: UN_4843
  • Form: Jar

This is a Ranch Incised jar. It has two sets of small, triangular shaped, strap handles. The rim is notched on the exterior and bevelled on the interior. The paste is Mississippi Plain, a course shell-temper that is able to withstand thermal shock. Although the course paste suggests that it was used for a utilitarian purpose, utilitarian pieces were not usually decorated.
