Frogs are among the more common animal forms represented by Late Mississippian potters in the Central Mississippi Valley (Fisher-Carroll 2001:46; Phillips et al. 1951), and most examples (including this one) are made with a Bell Plain paste. From Upper Nodena, this bottle is not one of the better frog vessels we have seen; its height is 5 inches.
