• Hampson ID: UN_5481
  • Form: Shell Mask Gorget

One of several shell mask gorgets reported from Upper Nodena, this specimen is 3 3/4 inches long. Although the surface is badly eroded, there remains some indications of incising around and below the two holes, which represent eyes. Northeast Arkansas has yielded a moderate number of similar objects, all of which are associated with late prehistoric/protohistoric contexts (Smith and Smith 1989).
