• Hampson ID: RL 5104
  • Form: Bottle

Applique hands and/or long bones occur on several vessels in the Hampson collection, including this wide-necked bottle, which is partially reconstructed. There are eight hands and the same number of long bones. The vessel rests on a large disk base and is 6 3/4 inches tall. The exact provenience of this vessel is not entirely clear, though it is clearly from the general vicinity of Richardson's Landing, Tennessee. Hampson's own catalog gives the provenience as "Robert Johnson lease," a note on the vessel number 5104 gives its provenience as "1 mile S of Richardson Landing," which may equate with site 40TP26.
